To those who might not know Jere has been very vocal about his experience with IBD more specifically ulcerative colitis that resulted in him getting a lifesaving surgery at 19 leaving him with his two surgical scars on his stomach. Here’s a few links to articles if you want to know more (x) (x). I’d also like to link the podcast interview where I first learned about his experience (starts at 11.10) since it touched me hearing him open up about for it for what sounded like the first time after he himself brought it up in such an authentic manner.
Since learning about his disability around april-may I have felt an even stronger connection to him. Although I do not have IBD myself, I just find his honestly, vulnerability and authenticity so inspiring that I could not help not to love him and and so the real brainrot began
For this reason drawing him for disability pride has been on my mind almost as long so I hope you enjoy the outcome - stay strong everybody and you are amazing just as you are, with or without disabilities

For those of you who don't know, July is Disability Pride Month.
July marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The picture included here is the visually safe and inclusive version of the Disability Pride Flag, designed by Ann Magill, as the original wasn't safe for those that suffer from migraines and visually triggered seizures. The color changes made from the original design also makes it more accessible to those with color blindness.
From the Disability Pride Flag section of the Disability Pride Month Wikipedia Page:
- All six "standard" flag colors: Disability spans borders between states and nations
- Black Field: Mourning for victims of ableist violence and abuse
- Diagonal Band: "Cutting across" the walls and barriers that separate disabled people from society
- Red Stripe: Physical disabilities
- Gold Stripe: Neurodivergence
- White Stripe: Invisible and undiagnosed disabilities
- Blue Stripe: Psychiatric disabilities
- Green Stripe: Sensory disabilities

Hahahha if nothing else I can be known as the ‘somewhat fast’ artist over the skilled one 🤣 Just me fooling around, it was a nice prompt that I felt inspired to draw and since I have made myself a goal to mostly do art fight related art in july it meant I had that evening to draw (and some friends coming over) so I could’ve just waited but nah I wanted in on the fun so that’s on me x’D

Ey I found my very niché flag :D!! (boyflux) a little sad I couldn’t show my green hair here but otherwise I am pretty happy with it :3 (inspired by my ‘slutty vampire’ look from today *yes, that was what I called it x’D*)
Also the grapes was the closest I could get to my Käärijä earrings x’D

sometimes i get worried that this love i have for käärijä and his music will fade by this time next year, that this joy that i feel when i hear these songs will go away or the fondness i get watching my concert clips will soon be gone, and its actually quite distressing
i go through this same thing with all of my special interests so its not new, but that doesn't mean its any less troubling
I made the mistake of gushing over käärijä and his looks in front my two lesbian friends - luckily they didnt mind although they couldnt understand 😅
They did let me play a lot of his music howver (and liked it 👀) and even sing cha cha cha for them … I am so blessed having friends that tolerate my brainrot 🤣
I might be back in th era where I make less sound decisions because I found some hairdresser scissors I’d forgotten I had and at first I just wanted to free my neck from the curtain of hair but that was not what ended up happening …
